Seriously Party Hearty!

June is my Birthday month...
and I'm sharing the celebration with you!
With my Stamp Set of the month for June 2009...
PARTY HEARTY!

Here are another 3 ways you can make the most of the
Party Hearty stamp set found on page 43
in the 09/10 Idea Book & Catalogue. (RRP $47.95)

This one is bright and cheerful. Another great card for boys/men. Oh and it's a reminder of how cool it is that the scallop circle punch fits just perfect around 'celebrate you'. The colours used are Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Real Red, and Brilliant Blue. I used stampin' write markers to get the colourful row of party hats. The DS paper in the background is from Holiday Treasures, and I have added the final touch with Real Red Striped Grosgrain Ribbon.

Needing a card for a teenage girl?.. Pink Pirouette, Polka Dots, and Party Hearty all put together and here you go! This card is using Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red, and Basic Black. The cute polka dot DS paper is from Bella Rose, and the girly bow is Pink Pirouette in-colour striped grosgrain ribbon. I've popped all the 3/4" circle punched bits with dimensionals, making this a great 5 minute card ready to take to the party!

Party Hearty isn't just about birthdays... check out how the party hats make a great row of Christmas trees for this cute Christmas card. WOW! What a versatile set Party Hearty really is! Inspired at convention, this really was the deciding factor for me, I really do love a stamp set that I can get the most out of, so when I saw Party Hearty was great for kids through to adults, males and females, and Christmas as well as any reason to celebrate all year through...

I couldn't resist.

For this card, (Inspired by Marelle Taylor) I have used Kiwi Kiss, Riding Hood Red, Whisper White, and Basic Black. Ho Ho Ho is stamped with the Short Order Alphabet. DS Papers are from Good Morning Sunshine, Riding Hood Red in-colour striped Ribbon and two cute designer buttons from Button Bouquet just about complete this card. But... I felt it needed a little sparkle for Christmas time... so along the tops of the trees (which were once party hats) I added a dob of crystal effects and sprinkled dazzling diamonds!

Rock & Roll

Another great WOW technique to add to your file... the Rock & Roll

1) Tap the stamp on a light-coloured ink pad
2) Press the edges of the entire stamp in a rolling motion on a darker ink pad, being careful not to ink the centre of the stamp
NOTE: Clean your stamp between each new Rock & Roll

Quick Tip: When using the Rock & Roll technique, always use the lightest coloured ink first to avoid getting dark ink on your light coloured ink pad

Stampin' Pads come in all the wonderful Stampin' Up! colours
and can be found on pages 126-129 available for $11.95 each.
Stampin' Scrub and Stampin' Mist to clean your stamp quickly between each rock & roll can be found on page 155 Scrub $28.95 and Mist $7.95

PARTY HEARTY!

Yet another great way you can make the most of the
Party Hearty stamp set found on page 43
in the 09/10 Idea Book & Catalogue. (RRP $47.95)

I was at Ursula's house today and we created these cute little toppers for the party bags her son Izra will take to school tomorrow on his 7th Birthday to share with his friends.

Simple and yet so effective! In Brilliant Blue we have stamped the row of Party Hats, and above in Real Red, my favourite words this month... party hearty! This was done on a 9cm x 9cm piece of Whisper White card that has been folded over the top of the little bag
and secured with a staple! EASY!

The kids will love them for sure!

Poppin' Pastels

A nifty way of colouring your stamped images.

Also a fun way of having all the Stampin' Up! colours
at hand in one neat sturdy case.

Poppin’ Pastels

1) Stamp the image with a VersaMark or White Craft ink pad
2) Use sponge daubers or cotton tips to apply the pastel colour directly to the ink
3) Blow off any excess powder

Quick Tip: To avoid smearing, gently dab the chalk rather than rubbing it across the image

Stampin' Pastels can be found on page 127 available for $48.95.
VersaMark Ink is on page 156 $13.95, or White Craft ink on page 127 $13.95. Sponge Daubers can be found on page 156 and are $20.95 (12).

Heat Embossing

You can create many different effects with your stamps that certainly give a WOW effect every time by embossing them... and it's so much fun to do!

Heat Embossing

1) Rub card with embossing buddy
2) Stamp your image with VersaMark ink then stamp onto card. NOTE: for a coloured embossed image, ink your stamp with VM ink then ink with Classic Stampin’ ink before stamping.
3) Pour powder onto inked image.
4) Shake excess powder off.
5) Heat image with heat tool only until the powder changes to a shiny liquid & rises. (Avoid overheating)
6) Allow embossed image to cool.

Emboss Resist: Follow steps 1-6 then apply ink with a sponge over & around embossed image. Wipe with a tissue to remove excess ink

The tools required for heat embossing can be found at the top of page 154. Stampin' Emboss Powder assorted colours $8.95, Embossing Buddy $9.50, Heat Tool $49.95, Powder Pals $37.95. VersaMark Ink can be found on page 156 $13.95.

PARTY HEARTY!

Here is another inspirational idea of how you can
make the most of the Party Hearty stamp set
found on page 43 in the 09/10 Idea Book & Catalogue. (RRP $47.95)

Yes, this idea came again from Marelle Taylor!
It's just that she had so many ideas I couldn't resist making them all...
and sharing them with you.

BOYS!!!! MEN!!!! Have you looked at your stamps when you have needed a card for a male and thought "Oh dear, I haven't got anything suitable to make a card for a man!" ?
I know I have... until now! It is my brother-in law to be's Birthday this weekend, so out came the Party Hearty Set and wammo... here we have it, the perfect male birthday card!

This card is using Kraft as the base, Kiwi Kiss, Pacific Point, Choc Chip Ribbon, and papers from 'Good Morning Sunshine' DS. Added with the tag punch and 3/4" circle punch for the centre of the 'b', using some dimensionals to raise it a little, the little tag is swinging freely with some linen thread holding it on, and there you have it!

Fresh Inspiration Day at Carina

Last Sunday we gathered at Carina for another fun Paper Angels Event...
our June Card event 'Fresh Inspiration'.

The afternoon included the Fresh Cuts Stamp Set pg 72
and 4 deluxe cards made on the day.

Fundraising on the day was towards our Angel Boxes for the
Mater Mothers Bereavement Program
and the aim to create some new Angel Boxes for other maternity hospitals
and childrens hospitals in Brisbane.

The day was a wonderful success!
The fabulous line up of raffle prizes helped us raise over $600 on the day.
We also had a card competition with fabulous prizes too!
Thanks again to Stampin' Up! for their support in donating hundreds of dollars of product for our lovely prize hampers. A special thanks also to Riot Art & Craft for their donations which helped make three extra prizes, thanks 'Paper Angel' Gail for organising that. Also a thanks goes to 'Paper Angel' Dianna for the lovely nest of tables donated by Interfurn International.
Our Sunday afternoon was spent enjoying ourselves making the following cards...

Here is the table I shared with my girls and Gail with hers...

These are the little handbags I made and filled with Chocolates for my guests...

There were some lovely new displays including some swaps from convention, with lots of 'Fresh New Inspirational Ideas!'

After lots of fun making our cards, we had afternoon tea, judged the card competition... then it was time for the raffle prizes!!!!!

'Paper Angel' Amanda had the honour of presenting the prizes to the winners...

The smiles of those who won...

This event the rules changed a little... in the past 'Paper Angel' demonstrators have not been a part of the prize draws. But as we kindly had donations from other companies other than Stampin' Up! the demonstrators were able to purchase tickets in the non-SU raffle prizes.

Lucky for that, 'Paper Angel' Sue who is in my 'Inspirational Angels' group won a prize...

The afternoon was fabulous all round! I just love the cards we made, and the company of fellow Stampin' lovers is always so much fun! The money we raised from the day will help towards at least two more Angel Boxes and to continue stocking up the ones already at the Mater.

Next Sunday is the Pine Rivers 'Fresh Inspiration' Day... I am sure it's not too late to be part of the fun there too!

Of course there is always the special bit about being part of the Paper Angels Group where we stay after an event and enjoy a drink and dinner together...

I am so lucky to be a part of such a wonderful group!

Anyone for a cupcake or two, or three?

June is my Birthday month...
and I'm sharing the celebration with you!
With my Stamp Set of the month for June 2009...
PARTY HEARTY!

Here is another inspirational idea of how you can
make the most of the Party Hearty stamp set
found on page 43 in the 09/10 Idea Book & Catalogue. (RRP $47.95)

I have cased this card straight from Marelle Taylor. Marelle showed us the Party Hearty set at convention and she was the reason why I fell in love with it. So of course when I got home, firstly I had to buy Party Hearty... then I wanted to re-make the lovely cards I had seen
that Marelle had made. Thanks Marelle

.
This card is using Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Baja Breeze, & Chocolate Chip. The photo doesn't show it very well, but the icing on the cakes have been raised with dimensionals. I have used the scallop border punch and the word window punch. The dots along the bottom were created with the Mat pack and Piercer. I have used Regal Rose Grosgrain Ribbon to finish the card off.

Time for Babies!

I have recently had a friend have a baby boy and have another friend expecting a baby boy quite soon. So over the past day I set aside some time to make my friends a little gift each for their arrivals.

I made this collection of photo cards for my friend who recently had her little boy. There are 10 cards each with an envelope, that she can place a photo of bub on, and on the back I have made a space for her to write a thank you note to send out to her friends who have sent her well wishes. I have used a photo of my nephew Kingston here just to show how a photo would look on the cards. The cards are presented in the decorated tin...

The cards have been made using the Designer Series Double Sided Patterned 'Sweet Slumber Specialty' Card. This is Patterned 12x12 card stock rather than paper. Found on page 133 available for $22.95. The back of each card is just the reverse side of what pattern was there. I have made these as a single card (not an open and fold style). Just flip it over to the other side to read the special message.
Each card has a Whisper White Envelope. Found on page 131 $10.95 (pack of 40). I have stamped a whale in Baja Breeze on each envelope. The whale comes from the 'Pun Fun' set on page 41 $58.95.

The tin is just the cutest bit! It is a left over Hodge Podge Tin. I have decorated it using left over bits of the Sweet Slumber card stock. A piece of the 1" Baja Breeze Double Stitched Ribbon, Hodge Podge embellishment with 1/4" Whisper White Grosgrain ribbon. 'baby' has been stamped using the 'Big Deal' Alphabet Stamp Set found on page 121 available for $77.95. I have gone over the letters once they were adhered to the tin with Crystal Effects to give the 3D lacquered look. Crystal Effects is becoming my favourite accessory these days. It can be found on page 154 and is available for $11.95

Below is the gift I made for my friend who is expecting a baby boy. It is two little packs of note cards that she can use as little thank you notes after he is born also. I have had to post this gift overseas, so I had to make it a little smaller and lighter... keeping the tin out of it this time.
We had seen this great idea using a plastic bag and little note cards at convention. I have been busting to try it out. You can do this novel little idea for any theme as a gift. But keep in mind the bags really only fit 4-5 little cards per bag. I had made her 8 cards... so I needed to split these into the two bags.

I have discovered Water Colour Paper lately and how it makes so much more sense to use it when water colouring than normal paper or card stock... I used the whale again from the 'Pun Fun' set as in my above project. Water Colour Paper is available from Stampin' Up! on page 130 for $13.50 (20 pieces). I'd love to show you how easy it is to colour... it really is fool proof, believe me, you will never colour on anything else after you use it.
Look at the results close up....

The DS Paper I used for these little cards and for the insert in the bags is Designer Series 'Patterns' Paper in Baja Breeze page 135 $16.95. The bags are also from Stampin' Up!, they are on page 130 and are the medium size $8.50 (50). To make the handle I have used the Word Window Punch page 153 $30.95 and tied the top off with the Baja Breeze 1" double stitched ribbon from page 150 $19.95 (9.1m).

The best part is now giving these to my friends xo

Basic Masking

Masking can give your project depth.
It allows you to use the same stamped image overlapping another
to look like you have layered the images onto each other.

In this example I have shown you,
I have used one flower stamp only and one leaf stamp.
By using Masking I have made my one flower
look like it is part of a bunch!

1) Stamp the image you would like to have in the foreground
(very front) of your project on your card.
2) Stamp the same image on scrap paper.
If you are using the same image more than once,
stamp 2 or 3 times on scrap paper.
3) Carefully cut out the scrap images.
NOTE: cut right on the line or even slightly inside it.
4) With repositionable tape, layer your scrap images
over those stamped on your card.
5) Stamp your second image over the mask.
This image will appear in the background.
6) Remove the mask to see the finished look!

Birthday wishes...

The mail kept a steady flow last week with more beautiful cards arriving in the post after my Birthday.

Here are 3 more beautiful cards I received...

Pretty in Pink from Debbie

Peacefully Purple from Jenny & Gail

Bold & Beautiful from Lil

Thank you for my lovely cards xo

June is my Birthday month...

With my Stamp Set of the month
for June 2009... PARTY HEARTY!

Here is another inspirational idea
of how you can make the most of the Party Hearty stamp set
found on page 43 in the 09/10 Idea Book & Catalogue. (RRP $47.95)

I just love how the circle scallop punch fits
the Celebrate You stamp perfectly!
The centre is created with the 1" circle and the 3/4" circle punches.
Isn't the ribbon on this card just divine?
It's the new Kiwi Kiss Satin Ribbon.
I made this card from seeing a similar one in different colours
at convention made by Marelle Taylor.
The colours I have used are Pink Pirouette, Kiwi Kiss,
and Chocolate Chip.

I am so lucky...

Through my love of Paper Craft and being a part of Stampin' Up! I have made so many crafty friends, so when my Birthday arrived... so did a huge collection of hand made cards.

I have been overwhelmed and excited to have received so many
lovely cards that have been made just for me! Thank you xo
Now, I did say friends... but I am also proud to say that I have an
Aunty and Sister who also have a passion for making cards,
so there were some cards on the day from
special family members who I share the love of Paper Craft with too.
(Mind you, I will remind everyone that Jackie... my sister... had never been keen until she won one of the big raffle prizes at the Mater Charity Christmas Card Events last year... and now she can't bring herself to buy a card, when she can make one... and with such wonderful stuff!...
yep she is hooked on Stampin' Up!)
Look at what arrived on the day filling my letter box....

WOW!!!!!!!!

Then today another surprise arrived...
this super cute card from my wonderful friend
and Paper Angels Team Leader Liz Collett.

She knows I love the sock monkey (I might have dropped a hint or two)!
Special Thanks to my lovely friends and family for your thoughts on my Birthday and all the wonderful cards I received! xo xo xo

Top Tip ~ Name it!

A wonderful friend and fellow Stampin' buddy of mine, Margaret,
shared a great idea with me the other day...

When you are assembling your stamps, write your name or initials on the block before placing the sticker/image label over it!

This way your name will never rub off as
the sticker keeps it protected!

When you go on Camp, club nights, or share your stamps with friends,

you won't get them mixed up.

What a top tip Margaret, thanks for that!
