Stampin' & Scrapin' in the Mountains! July 09

WOW... I held my very first camp on the weekend at
Tamborine Mountain...
and it was soooo much fun!

The car tells it all really... we were in for a weekend of some serious stampin' and scrapin'.
(Yes it is true... I even took my filing cabinet with me!)

As I pulled up at Carla's house after weighing the barge down with my loaded ute... I sensed concern that we might not fit everything in... but alas, there is always the back seat to fill!

Off the two of us headed up the mountain for a weekend with friends, craft, meals cooked, no cleaning up, and no husbands or kids!!!!!!

Let the crafting begin...

Of course the hubby's and kids were only a phone call away,
and some sent little reminders just in case we forgot them...

Having time with friends and letting the creativity flow, what more could you ask for?

Oh I know... doing it all in the comfort of your PJ's of course!

Let's not let winter up the mountains stop us from wearing our trusty thongs either!

There were so many lovely projects made.

We even had a challenge donated by Print Blocks with great prizes... a big thanks to Print Blocks for their support of our camp and congrats on the great job everyone did who entered. (Sorry but I couln't fit all the entries in one photo so I took individual ones...
too many to put on here)

I would like to say a big thanks to Kirstine who has handed over the role of camp leader to me after many years of her doing such a great job, she helped guide me well into what I feel was
a wonderful weekend...

Thank you to Connie for these lovely 'My Art' display boards that she supplied for raffles...

Thanks to Debbie, for the gorgeous name tags that she made for each of us...
(Special thanks for them being soooo Stampin' Up!)

A massive thanks to Liz on behalf of everyone at camp for the wonderful donations she made of goodies bags for each of us as well as prizes throughout the weekend.

It was such a fantastic time, so many great moments, some good laughs, and lots of projects completed to take home... I couldn't wipe the smile from my face as I enjoyed my time up the mountains with such a lovely group of friends... and I still can't now!

Thanks to everyone who came... looking forward to camping with you all again next year!

Snow Swirled ~ photo/place card holder

Here's a quick project for you...

This neat little idea came from a swap at Convention also. It is a 50mm clip decorated to make a handy photo holder, name place holder, card holder, or even useful for display signs.

I have made mine as a photo holder for Christmas time... inspired by wanting to make something with my stamp set of the month
'Snow Swirled'

To decorate your 50mm clip all you need is a piece of Designer Series Paper 5cm x 7.5cm. Glue this to your clip. I use Power Pritt as it works best for me when gluing paper to metal. The DSP I have used for this one is from Holiday Treasures. Next, decorate the front with an embellishment... for mine I stamped the snowflake from
Snow Swirled and adhered it with a double layer of Dimensionals so it sat out nicely.
Finish your clip off with some ribbon and there you have it!

Colourful 'Snow Swirled'

Did I mention that it's only 5 months til Christmas?
4 months until we need to start posting out those lovely handmade cards?

I've been getting organised with my favourite Christmas Stamp Set this year...
Snow Swirled!

Here are some more inspirational ideas of how you can
make the most of the Snow Swirled stamp set found on
page 30 in the 09/10 Idea Book & Catalogue (RRP $45.95).

After I made my first Snow Swirled card with the Riding Hood Red and Chocolate Chip I thought... why stop there? I love this layout... and I love the In-Colours we have at the moment... so I made a couple more... this time with the Baja Breeze and Kiwi Kiss.

Christmas cards need to be simple and stunning... specially if you need to make a stack of them!
This card covers both...

Using a colour combination that has me in love... Baja Breeze and Not Quite Navy, this card is cost effective and would delight any recipient. Out came the white embossing powder to get the snowflake effect on the Baja Breeze, and a crystal brad in the center of the scallop circle decoration and there you have it!
But wait there's more....
At our last Paper Angels meeting we made these cute little Top Note Gift bags in Baja Breeze & Not Quite Navy, decorated with the So Swirly Jumbo Wheel which goes great with Snow Swirled. When I sat the card next to it... they made a great match. Fill the bag with some homemade white Christmas or other goodies and what a lovely Christmas treat you have made for that someone special.

Rub-ons

Stampin' Up! Rub-Ons are easy to apply and add depth to any card stock, patterned paper, or stamped image.
Their are many eye-catching images designed to co-ordinate with many of the Stampin' Up! stamp sets. The intricate designs will guarantee to give your projects flair!

1) Cut out your chosen image from the image sheet.
2) Remove the backing sheet
3) Lay the image on your project where desired
4) Firmly rub the image with the round end of a bone scorer or use a paddle pop stick. This will transfer your image onto your project.
NOTE: You will see the image lifted away from the top sheet completely before peeling the top sheet off.

Rub-Ons can be used on paper and most nonporous surfaces, including glass, photos, candles… let your imagination go wild!

Rub-Ons can be found on page 139. Planter Box & Laughter and Love $19.95 include 2 sheets per pack, 1 in white and 1 in choc chip. Bright Delights are $21.95 including 2 multicoloured sheets featuring 4 colours.

Sticky Note Holders

This novel idea came about from a swap at
Convention in Canberra earlier this year.
(Thank you to who made them, but sorry I don't know who you are)

I have been making them and sharing them with my hostesses, and at workshops ever since... and by popular request I have the instructions here for you so you can make them too...
You won't believe how easy it is...

From an A4 page of card you can make 3 holders. Cut your card in the landscape position at 9cm so that you have a piece of card 9cm x 21cm. Now score your card in the landscape position at 9 cm, 10cm, and 11cm. Between the 3 score lines you need to snip or cut 2 cuts. For the holders I have made with a ribbon band I have made these two cuts at 3cm and 6cm. For the ones without ribbon such as the owl one, I have made these 2 snips at 2cm and 4cm. Take note of your card though, you will have a larger side and smaller side from where your score lines are... the larger side is the base. After creating your two cuts attach sticky strip to the inside of the 10cm and 11cm score lines, being careful not to put any sticky strip
between the two cuts.
Now stick this to the base and there you have it!
Decorate as you please... here are a few of the ones I have made lately...

What a fabulous gift idea!

July is the month to 'Snow Swirled' (Stamp set of the month!)

July means that Christmas is only 5 months away!
4 months until we start posting out all the lovely handmade Christmas cards
we have made for our friends and family!

I've started getting organised with my favourite Christmas Stamp Set this year...
Snow Swirled!

Introducing to you the stamp set of the month for July 2009... Snow Swirled!

Over the month of July I will share with you lots of inspirational ideas of how you can
make the most of the Snow Swirled stamp set found on
page 30 in the 09/10 Idea Book & Catalogue (RRP $45.95).

If you like what you see...
Start getting ready for Christmas just like me
by purchasing 'Snow Swirled' in the month of July 2009 from me
for the special price of $39!

That's a saving of over 15%... we all love to save for Christmas!

Here is the first card I made with Snow Swirled...

Colours used are Riding Hood Red and Chocolate Chip. I love Chocolate & Christmas... so swaying away from the traditional Christmas colours I thought I'd add a splash of Chocolate. This is a great card you could mass produce for a stack of Christmas cards ready to post.

Something a little softer...

Reaching into my Soft Subtles collection I pulled out Certainly Celery & Bashful Blue for this one. Teaming them up with Kraft... I was pretty happy with the result. The tree was stamped in Bashful Blue and I used my Certainly Celery Marker to colour near the big swirls after stamping.
