Christmas Card Workshop Fun!

Memories of our fun day on the 31st July at the Springwood Bowls Club for our Paper Angels Annual Christmas Card Charity Workshops.
Paper Angel Ursula deserves a big round of applause for this day... it was fabulous!

The Springwood Bowls Club was a lovely venue, we had a huge room, great lighting, and the convenience of the bistro right beside us for lunch. Oh and I can't forget the yummy treats we had for Morning Tea!
Thanks to all the Paper Angels with a big contribution from Ursula & Liz there were gorgeous displays to get lots of Inspiration from and take photos of...

Cards for Troops was a new addition introduced this year and WOW what a fabulous response we had. Thanks to everyone who donated to this wonderful mission to send cards to our Troops so they have something nice to write a message on to send back home to their loved ones this Christmas. Special Thanks at the Springwood event to Di Greenaway for her 108 cards donated, and to Barbara Thompson for her 40 cards added to our Cards for Troops Box...

I had 7 of my lovely customers join me on the day,
we shared many a laugh, it was a tonne of fun!
Colleen, Sonia & Carla

Jennifer & Kym

Di & Barbara

Paper Angel Sam demonstrated for her first time at an event,
here she is with one of her guests Carla.

We made absolutely gorgeous projects featuring the 'I Wish' Simply Scrappin' Kit
and getting our hands on the BIG SHOT!

Each project gave the opportunity to try something new.
My Card design was even included... shucks!

Using the Colour Instructions and having all tools required within arms reach we had such a relaxing day cruising through the projects at our own pace.

Thanks goes to Liz for all her wonderful time and effort she puts into these special Paper Angels events. Behind the scenes Liz puts in so many hours and is so dedicated to the success of our events, she is truly our 'Guardian' Angel. Thanks Liz.

Congratulations goes to Barbara T for 1st prize in the Card Comp, and 2nd and 3rd prize Congrats goes to Di G. (Both my ladies of course, chuckle, yes I am proud!)

Of course, there was the now very famous raffle prizes! Stampin' Up! again shone through with their generosity of fabulous product donated for our raffles, making up 5 bright beautiful Prizes to be won!

My table nearly had a clean sweep of the lot! Winning prize 1 was Colleen, prize 2 Barbara, prize 3 Di, prize 4 Barbara again (lucky girl), and there was a glimpsing moment when we all gasped as prize 5 was announced, the winner being Carla... but much to Carla M from our tables disappointment *sob sob*, it was not her, but rather Carla Sam's guest. Congrats to all 5 winners of these lovely prizes.

I couldn't resist this cute photo of Barbara T with her 2 prizes, she's still flabbergasted to have done so well in the raffles. Lucky they were wrapped so pretty as she was worried her husband might think she'd been shopping again when she got home with so many new products! LOL

And the finished projects of the day of course...

Aren't they just the most adorable projects?
Thanks to Ursula & Liz for organising such a great day,
and to all who came along to make it the success it was!

A very special Christmas surprise!

A card arrived today in my letter box, but not just any card, a card that has been handmade for me by a very very special person in my life... My Nan!
Now you might be thinking that's a pretty normal thing to get a card at Christmas from your Nan in the post... well yes and no... what makes this card so very special is that my Nan has handmade me this card, and my Nan is 93!
This year she has set aside the time to make me a card from her heart and I am so proud of her.

I'm sure this goes to show... making a handmade card has NO AGE BARRIERS! :-)

Here it is...

I also wanted to share with you the lovely verse included inside which really did touch my heart.

It reads:

My Christmas List

There are a lot of folk I know
all written in a book,
and every year at Christmas time
I go and have a look.
For each name stands for someone
who has touched my life sometime,
and in that meeting they've become
the rhythm of the rhyme.
For once that I've known someone
the year cannot erase,
the memory of a pleasant word
or a friendly face.
So never think my Christmas Cards
are just a mere routine,
of a name upon a list
forgotten in between.
For when I send a Christmas card
that is addressed to you,
it is because you're on the list
of folks I'm indebted to.
And whether I have known you
for many years or few,
in some way you've had a part
in shaping things I do.
So every year when Christmas comes
I just realize anew,
that the greatest gift that god can give
is knowing folks like you.

Thanks Nan for my lovely card... I love you xoxo

It's all in the packaging!

I have shared this idea with you before, but as it's such a simple and effective idea, I thought I'd share it again.

Specially for those who are time short like me... 3 sleeps til Christmas AAARRRGGG!!!!!

It's not how big it is or how much it cost, it's the love and thought you put into it that says you really care and puts that warm fuzzy feeling into giving gifts.... Handmade packaging is a great way to express that with your gift giving.

Here is the cute little bag I created last night to put a very special little surprise inside for a special someone under our tree this year.

The bag was made from a plane old envelope using the bag-a-lope instructions below and the tag was one we created at our Paper Angels Christmas Card Charity Events this year.

Thank you to 3 of my Paper Angel friends xoxoxo

When I think Paper Angels of course stampin' comes to mind along with fun and happiness... but there's one other very special thing that comes to mind, FRIENDS! I have made so many wonderful friends in whom I may never have met if I hadn't become part of the
Paper Angels Group.

I'd like to say Thank you to 3 of those friends for the special treats they have made me this year for Christmas...

Thank you Felicity for this personalised diary, it will come in handy for all my workshop bookings and classes lol ;-) (What a great idea to cover a diary like this, wish I thought of that first! lol)

Thanks also goes to Bec and Julie who I caught up with yesterday at Liz's for our Leadership meeting. They each gave me a gift with chocolates (Mmmm my favourite), Bec made me the lovely cracker and Julie the funky handbag. I had to eat all the chocolates before they melted *giggle*, but lucky, cause now I have my cracker and handbag out with my Christmas decorations and they look just great!

Thanks to my Paper Angel friends for such lovely treats. I feel a little spoilt xoxoxo

Looking just superb!
Thanks Jackie for the invite, I love it almost as much as I love you! lol

I also had the excitement on the same day of receiving my very first Christmas Card for 2009, a handmade one at that! Thanks Margaret for the lovely card you have made... The gift of gift card holders!

As a demonstrator every month I have the added bonus of receiving in the mail our Stampin' Up! demonstrator 'Impressions', filled with lots inspiration and cool project ideas.

This month I would like to share with you the words of our co founder and CEO Shelli Gardner as she reflects on the pleasure of giving gifts. Shelli says giving gifts provides the perfect opportunity to send an extra-special message of love by adding a handmade element. A hand-stamped tag jazzes up a jar of jam, or any gift, and a card that co-ordinates with hand stamped wrapping always makes a delightful impression. And of course when you can actually make the gift itself, that's even more fun!

Shelli tells of how she gave her mum a gift card for her birthday earlier this year, and of course how she dolled it up by creating darling gift card packaging. She says somehow it made the gift feel much more personal and heartfelt. You guessed it... the first thing her mum commented on was the packaging!

Here is a simple and adorable gift card holder I'd like to share with you which was a project from our October 'Impressions'

To create this you will need a piece of card stock that is 10.2cm x 27.9cm
* In landscape position score your card at 4.5cm, 12.4cm, and 20.3cm
* Turn your card to portrait position so as the have the smallest section at the top. Punch a notch in the right edge of the bottom section using the 1 3/8" circle punch.

* Adhere sticky strip to the bottom edge and opposite side (left side) of your notch in the bottom section, then fold this up to create a pocket for your gift card.
* Decorate as desired.

Ta-da! Now you will have a beautiful gift card holder that will be sure to impress that special someone you care about.

Stamps: Snow Swirled
Ink: Old Olive, Chocolate Chip
Card: Old Olive, Real Red, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip Patterns DS Paper
Accessories: Crystal Brad, Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon
Tools: Paper Trimmer & Scorer, Scallop Border Punch, 1 1/4" Circle, 1 3/8" Circle, small hole punch, adhesives including Sticky Strip & Dimensionals.

Ski Slope start for Sam!

I would like to welcome
our newest 'Inspiration Angel' with a big HELLO...
Welcome Sam.

After flying back in from Bali all relaxed and refreshed, I was lucky enough on Saturday to be invited to Sam's very first Stampin' Up! class and get to be the student!
That's like a pamper in itself really...
I love to learn as much as I do to teach!
Here are the 3 cards we made at Sam's class.....

Check out the Christmas tree card, it's really groovy, you can't see properly by the photo, but it's 3D. Made by stampin' 2 trees, cutting them identical, folding them each in half long ways and sticking together so the middle sticks out from the card. If you check out page 32 of the 09/10 Idea book and catalogue that's where Sam says she got her inspiration. Well done Sam on 3 lovely cards!

You may notice the lovely DS paper used also. Yes... it's SKI SLOPE! We have all fallen in love with this paper so much... BUT, there is only a couple weeks left to stock up on it before it is never to be seen again.
The Spring Mini ends on the 30th November... making way for the Summer Mini.
Now is your last chance to stock up on those Spring mini favourites!
