A Waterfall for Forest Friends!

November is here! But... I'm not! (hee hee hee)
This month is the LAST MONTH we have with our fabulous SPRING MINI catalogue. That means if you have fallen in love with any of the Spring Mini goodies, the last chance to get your hands on them is November!

I LOVE so much in the mini... I love the Summer Love Rub-Ons, Corduroy Buttons, Walk in the Park DS, Scallop Oval Punch, Flower Designer Brads, Ski Slope DS, Birthday Wish, Great Friend, Oval All, & Forest Friends just to name a few.

At our Springwood CCW one of my guests, Kerrie, won first prize in the card comp with her waterfall card, and I just was busting to know how to make one. Lucky for me we talked Kerrie into teaching a group of us how to make a waterfall card... (I love that this is such a sharing craft!) and here's my latest to share with you...

Forest Friends and Flower Designer Brads
from the Spring Mini have both been used on this card...
Ending November 30!

Stamps: Forest Friends, Best Yet (level 1 hostess set)
Ink: Certainly Celery, Regal Rose
Card: Certainly Celery, Regal Rose, Whisper White, Sweet Always DS
Accessories: Flower Designer Brads, Jumbo Eyelet, Certainly Celery 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon
Tools: Paper Trimmer with Scorer, Scallop Square Punch, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, Crop-a-Dile, Handheld Punch, Daubers, & Adhesives including Sticky Strip.

Here is a waterfall card that Kerrie made after the Christmas Card Workshop with her Spotlight on Christmas Set. It looks fabulous with Bella Rose DS!

I will be away until the 12th November... email me if you would like any Spring Mini products and I will place an order as soon as I get back!

3 little birds - 3 more sleeps!

This month I have absolutely loved sharing with you my
Friends 24-7.

A little birdie told me we only have 3 sleeps left until October has come to an end... so I thought I better make a few more cards to add to the Friends 24-7 collection.

This card was inspired by Marelle Taylor. It was the perfect colours for stamping friend (and fellow islander), Elizabeth who's birthday it is today... so shortly after making this I popped down the road a slipped this one into her letter box!

Stamps: Friends 24-7, Friendly Words jumbo wheel
Ink: Not Quite Navy, Kiwi Kiss, Basic Grey, Creamy Caramel
Card: Not Quite Navy, Kiwi Kiss, Basic Grey, Whisper White
Tools: Paper Trimmer, Jumbo Handle, Aqua Painter, Daubers, Adhesives including Dimesnionals

It must be a day for Birthdays here on Macleay. This card was made for another stamping/islander friend Karen.

Stamps: Friends 24-7
Ink: Basic Black, (Colouring with an aqua painter and ink from the lids of my stampin pads, I also used Ballet Blue, Old Olive, Close to Cocoa, More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie, Creamy Caramel)
Card: Basic Black, Ballet Blue, Whisper White
Tools: Paper Trimmer, Aqua Painter, scrap paper for masking, Adhesives.

Here's another for you...
this is the first time I have used my new punch,
the spiral punch. I can see me getting a little addicted to it. lol

Stamps: Friends 24-7, Friendly Words jumbo wheel
Ink: White StayzOn, Chocolate Chip, Sahara Sand
Card: Kraft, Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Kraft Taffeta Ribbon
Tools: Paper Trimmer, Jumbo Handle, Scissors, Spiral Punch,
Adhesives including Dimensionals

Has October inspired you to Friends 24-7?

There are 3 sleeps left to add Friends 24-7 to your collection
at my special price of $39
which is a saving of over 15%.

Email me before Sat night if you would like a set.

PLEASE NOTE: I will be away for the first 2 weeks of next month. I have had enquiries already as to what my stamp set of the month for November will be. Keep posted for when I return as I will be having a special like never before for November's stamp set of the month!

Memories from Macleay Island CCW

Macleay Island joined in on the fun again this year as part of the Paper Angels Group Charity Christmas Card Workshops, holding our event here in my home.
We had a lovely relaxing day with our little gang...
here are some special memories from the day.
(before I go ahead though, I must apologise,
I was having so much fun I forgot to take a group shot of all who were here.)

Thank you to Lil, Anne, Barb, Sue, Sylvia, Elizabeth, and Marg
for coming along to support our special charity event.

Inspired by some chocolates I had spotted on Paper Angel Felicity's blog,
here are the chocolates I covered as a treat for each of the girls as
an extra thank you for coming along.

Being at home we all brought along a plate to share for lunch and sat out on the deck together.

Here I go again... the Card Competition... WOW!
There were 16 entries in the card comp from the 7 ladies who attended.
It was so hard for everyone to come up with their favourite 1st and 2nd choice.

Congratulations to Elizabeth who won 1st prize...

Congratulations to Barb who won 2nd prize...

It was so close there was actually a draw for 2nd prize, I would like to congratulate Lil on her card also (but sorry I didn't get a photo of it to share).

As I have proudly mentioned many times before... our raffles for events such as these supporting charities in our local community are well supported by Stampin' Up! who generously donate product for our famous prizes. Macleay Island received a donation along with each event. Here are the happy winners of our raffle prizes.

Sue & Sylvia

and a double wammie for Lil

With the donation of Afternoon tea (cakes made by Lil), the huge pile of entries in the card comp, and the raffles... I am very proud to announce that Macleay Island raised $128 to go towards this years total towards our Paper Angel Group 'Angel Boxes'. A great result for a group of 7. Well done girls and thanks again for coming!

Memories from Victoria Point CCW

The 2nd of this years Paper Angels Charity Christmas Card Workshops, was on the 11th of October at Victoria Point Sharks.

This was such a fabulous day... I'd love to share some memories from the day with you!

At this event I had a tinsy bit smaller group than the day before at Springwood, with 3 guests attending. I also looked after some lovely ladies for Liz and Kathy who couldn't attend.
Here is my table of ladies for the day...

Thank you to Anne, Jenny, and Sam for coming along to support our special charity event.
Here are the little matchbox lolly treats I made for my guests to say thank you for being there.

The day was another wonderful success... Special congratulations to Felicity who co-ordinated the day, this was her 1st big event. Well done Felicity on a fantastic job.
Thanks again to Marjorie for coming along to help with raffles, card comp etc. You really are a great help. I suppose it goes without saying that I had better mention the great job Kate did too *chuckle*... We flew solo without the talented Liz guiding us for the day and I must give Felicity, Kate, Marjorie, and myself special pats on the back for making it through the day without such as the slightest hiccup! YEY

Felicity even had crackers and party hats for us to truly feel the Christmas spirit...

One lucky cracker had a note inside winning a bonus prize!

Another proud moment for me having my guest Jenny win a prize in the card competition.
Well done Jenny, your thong card is just so cute!

Thanks again to those who came to Victoria Point. I'm really looking forward to attending this venue again at our next Paper Angels Event, it was a really lovely day!

Memories from Springwood CCW

On the 10th October at the Springwood Hotel, we held the 1st of this years Paper Angels Group Annual Charity Christmas Card Workshops.

I'd like to share with you some memories from our fabulous day.

Having an overwhelming response to our newest venue "Springwood", I had a huge attendance list which was very exciting. Lucky I had some lovely Paper Angels demonstrators helping me out, or we may never have made it to the end of the day each with 8 completed projects to take home. A BIG THANK YOU to Ursula, Jen, and Amanda for your help.
Here are my ladies each having a fun time on the day.

Thank you to Yvonne, Carla, Colleen, Sonia, Beccy, Penny, Robyn, Sandy, Shelley, Kerrie, Mandy, Michelle, Sandy, Leigh, Margaret, Barbara, & Jennifer for coming along on the day and supporting our special charity event.

Here are the little thank you place card holders I made for each of my guests attending the day...

The day was a huge success... congratulations to the Paper Angels Group yet again for putting together another super dooper fabulous event. Special congratulations to Ursula who co-ordinated the day, this was her 1st big event, and the 1st of the CCW's this year. Well done Ursula on a fantastic job.

I would also like to personally thank fellow Paper Angel Marjorie for coming along on the day and helping out with registrations, raffles, card comp entries etc. (Oh and me needing bits here and there). THANK YOU Marjorie for being such an angel.

At our events we hold a card competition in which full proceeds from the entry fees go straight to our charity. Thank you to everyone who brought along a card or 2 (or more) to share with us. I believe there were over 30 entries. I was a little proud in particular of the winners of the 3 great prizes, being that all 3 were my guests. (Must be the great teacher they have!)

Congratulations to Kerrie winning 1st prize...

Congratulations to Beccy winning 2nd prize...

Congratulations to Shelley winning 3rd prize...

Stampin' Up! generously donates to each of our charity events a HUGE box of products in which we hold our now quite famous raffles, full proceeds going to our charity. Here are the lucky winners on the day...

Smiles all round for my guests Yvonne, Shelley, Carla, and Sandy who were amongst those taking home a huge box of Stampin' Up! goodies.

What a day!

Thanks again to those who came along. Looking forward to our CCW's again next year!

Cards for Elana's 4th Birthday!

I have been a little slack posting things I really wanted to post and my list of "must blog this" keeps getting longer and longer.

One of the things I was busting to share was the lovely handmade cards our daughter Elana got sent to her for her 4th Birthday. Elana has some very special people in her life who just like mummy share the love of Paper Craft and they made her these very special cards.

Thanks Aunty Jackie, Aunty Elfie, and Lil. Elana loves them very much! They are still out on display in her room, and in no hurry to be put away!!!!! xo

Q&A: How do I re-ink my Stampin' Pads?

I often get asked "what is the best way to re-ink your stampin' pads?"

Re-inking an inkpad is really easy. Make sure to shake your ink refill bottle first, then simply 'scribble' your ink refill over the surface of the pad. Just one coating should do.
You don't want the pad to be too juicy!

TIP: Craft ink and Versamark inks can be quite thick, so I warm them in a jar of warm water before re-inking the pad. It makes the ink flow more freely.

Do you have a stamping question that you would like answered?
Email me to ask your question, i'd love to help you out.

Pretty are my Friends 24-7!

October's stamp set of the month 'Friends 24-7',
brings such things to mind as
Pretty, Girlie, and Pink!

Today I sat down with just those 3 things in mind...
and I made 2 cards that are just that!

Loving the damask stamp from the set, I had been inspired to try it out with two inks to give a two-tone effect... here's how it turned out...

Making the background was fun, and I was really pleased with how it looked, I didn't want to take away from it too much, so I simply added some ribbon, a pretty bow, and the 'Friends' saying mounted with dimensionals in the centre of the card.

Stamps: Friends 24-7
Ink: Cameo Coral, Kiwi Kiss
Card: Whisper White, Cameo Coral, Kiwi Kiss
Accessories: Kiwi Kiss Stripe Ribbon
Tools: Paper Trimmer, Daubers, Adhesives, & Dimensionals.

One of the highlights for me this year was going to Canberra for the Stampin' Up! Convention. There the Inspiration was non-stop! One of the memorable presentations for me was the one done by Stampin' Up!'s Co founder & CEO Shelli Gardner. Shelli has a real Shabby Chic style and I sooooo love it! The 09/10 catalogue introduced a line of products that she personally has been involved in creating "Shelli's Signature Collection" and Friends 24-7 is part of her collection. (to find Shelli's Signature range, just look for the heart icon).

Shelli made this adorable card in which I have done my best efforts to replica myself, I just love it, but I must say... if you like this, believe it or not, Shelli's was even more adorable.

A couple of tips I learnt from Shelli presenting this card was that you can colour the flowers from the pretties kit with pastels and daubers. You can even stamp on them too! Don't the ribbons look so adorable? I braved the old needle and thread and gathered the pretty in pink ribbon, the ribbon above it is from 'Dress Up' Ribbon Originals, dyed in coffee.

Stamps: Friends 24-7, Friendly Words jumbo wheel
Ink: Pretty in Pink, Sahara Sand, Basic Grey, Kiwi Kiss, Creamy Caramel
Card: Pretty in Pink, Sahara Sand, Confetti White
Accessories: Pretties Flower, Crystal Brad, Pretty in Pink Taffeta Ribbon, Dress Up Ribbon
Tools: Paper Trimmer, Needle & Thread, Coffee for dying, Scissors for distressing, Jumbo Wheel Handle, Aqua Painter, Daubers, Pastels, Spritzer Tool, & Adhesives

Fallen in love with Friends 24-7?

Friends 24-7 can be found on page 81 of the 2009/2010 Idea Book & Catalogue RRP $45.95

As I love each and every one of my friends... and that includes you... I am offering you the opportunity to add Friends 24-7 to your stamp collection at my special price of $39
That's a saving of over 15%!

Only available at this fabulous price until the end of this month!

The 'perfect' invitation for my sister's special day!

As most of you know, I travelled south to my parents house during the last school holidays, in which during that time, my sister Jackie & I set out to tackle to fun challenge of putting together 60 wedding invitations. With 3 kids between us, in the school holidays, one would agree this was to be a challenge just in itself, but thankfully our mum "nanny" came to the rescue and did a fantastic job babysitting, Dad "gumpy" had his share in the babysitting too, so all in all it was a group effort, and well worth it I would say.

What we created was....
the "perfect" invitation for my sister's special day!

The ribbon is held on with slot punches either side of the opening and the ribbon looped through them, so when you open it the ribbon hangs there in place, keeping it looking very classy!(Believe me, a lot of thought went into this invite *giggle*) The Baroque Motifs image has been stamped 3 times on each invite front with VersaMark then clear embossed, it looks WAY better in the flesh than in this photo.

My brother in-law to be, Jason, works for the Australian Defence Force. The wedding will be a 'Military Wedding' with the groom and groomsmen in Service Uniform. That is where I came up with my most brilliant idea yet.... the cute crown buttons on the invitations...

Well I thought it was a brilliant idea until 60 build-a-brads later! lol

For those who are wondering just how did I get the crown in there... the magical world of scanning allowed me to do that. Using a badge from Jason's uniform I scanned the crown, shrunk it down to a tiny little version and printed many little mini crowns in which I punched out and placed into my build-a-brads! Wha-lah!!!!

Stamps: Baroque Motifs
Ink: VersaMark, Chocolate Chip
Card: Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Antique Brass Build-a-Brads, Clear Embossing Powder, Ribbon
Tools: Paper Trimmer with Scoring Blade, 1/2" Circle Punch, Horizontal Slot Punch, Embossing Buddy, Heat Tool, Daubers, & Adhesives.

I can't wait to get mine in the post with some words on it to feel complete!

Inspiring 'Friends 24-7'

I really love this month's stamp set of the month 'Friends 24-7'.

Here is a card I made for a stampin' friend Helen for her Birthday using this set...

Inspired from one of the swaps I received at Convention 09 - by Vanessa Webb.

Stamps: Friends 24/7 & Friendly Words Wheel
Ink: Kiwi Kiss, Sahara Sand, & Pink Passion
Card: Sahara Sand, Pink Pirouette, & Kraft
Accessories: Pink Pirouette Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Silver Brad
Tools: Paper Trimmer, 2mm Circle Punch, Sponge Daubers, & Adhesives incl Dimensionals.

Another friend of mine, Paper Angel Fiona Dunlop of Townsville, had posted a challenge on her blog for October with the theme 'Many Thanks'. So I thought I would combine 'Friends 24-7' with the Thank you stamp from 'Lovely Labels' for this challenge... and it came together like this...

As you can see I have only used one stamp from Friends 24-7 here to create the background, the Damask. I must say this stamp alone is one of my favourite stamps in the entire 09/10 Idea Book and Catalogue. I also love Stampin' Up!'s DS papers as they do the thinking for me of what colours to use. I find most times if I choose a DS I like for a project I can stick to the colours of that DS for what I am making, and it always looks great!

Stamps: Friends 24-7 & Lovely Labels
Ink: Sahara Sand & Not Quite Navy
Card: Kraft, Very Vanilla, & Not Quite Navy
Accessories: DS paper Bella Bleu & Very Vanilla Grosgrain Ribbon
Tools: Paper Trimmer, Eyelet Border Punch, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, & Adhesives.

Creating many HAPPY friends this month!

Look NO STAMPS!!!!

A stamp-less card... *gasp*
No i'm not kidding, and yes I am feeling okay!

I have been itching to make a card using only rub-ons,
so when my friend Shelley had her birthday last month,
out they came!

And dah dah dah DAH....

What a super cool card this is if I do say myself. *giggle*

The centre of the card is Whisper White, and it has a layer of 'overhead transparency' over it. I have placed rub-ons on the outside on the OHT and under this on the WW card. The rub-ons are 'Summer Love' in the Spring mini.

Okay, okay... so it might have been a little much for me to not squeeze some stampin in there somewhere... so I decorated the envelope to match, just couldn't resist! The 'Great Friend' stamp set co-ordinates with 'Summer love' rub-ons... so why not!

Rub-ons are so easy...
just select, cut, rub, and peel!

Materials used to make this card: Summer love rub-ons, whisper white card stock, Overhead transparency paper, Baja Breeze stripe ribbon.
(Hidden under the ribbon I used a couple of glue dots to hold the OHT to the WW securely.)
This card was inspired by the front cover of the Spring mini!

Friends 24-7 in October!

Spring is well and truly here!
The flowers are blooming,
colour filling our gardens.
The birds are singing,
baby birds are peeping out from their nests.
What a wonderful time of year!

But there are many reasons why I love this month other than Spring.
October brings the fun of our Christmas Card Charity Workshops,
a bonus as it will bring together friends enjoying a great day together,
maybe some new friendships will become for some.
It is also a great month to join Stampin' Up!
As I reflect upon my own experience joining Stampin' Up! this months featured Stamp Set 'Friends 24-7' reminds me too well of the impact it has had on my life...
"The HAPPIEST business in the world is that of making FRIENDS"
and that's just what I have made so many of since joining Stampin' Up!

I am proud to present to you the Stamp Set of the month
for October 2009

Friends 24-7!

Kick starting this month's most gorgeous stamp set I created this card
with the floral theme of spring in mind....

Using Raspberry Tart DS as my background, I went with the 'think pink' theme, selecting Rose Red as my main colour. I decided to water colour the flower using the ink from my Stampin' Pads, Certainly Celery being my choice for the stem. To compliment this I added a small addition of CC to my scallop framed quote. 1" Rose Red Ribbon trimmed with a white eyelet border edge made for a nice subtle finishing touch!

Friends 24-7 can be found on page 81 of the 2009/2010 Idea Book & Catalogue RRP $45.95
