Pink Pirouette Pocket Silhouettes!

I just can't believe we have nearly ended
the first month of 2010 already!

With January almost at an end I thought I would share with you
one last Inspiration for my stamp set of the month -
Pocket Silhouettes!

This is the make and take card we made at Mandy's house yesterday featuring Pocket Silhouettes and Pink Pirouette! With a splash of Chocolate of course :-)

Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Card: Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White,
Chocolate Chip Patterns DS
Accessories: Chocolate Chip 1" Double Stitch Grosgrain Ribbon, Silver Brads
Tools: Eyelet Border Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch, Scallop Square Punch, 1/2" Circle Punch, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Piercer ( for brads), Adhesives including Dimensionals.

The Scallop Square Punch was used to create the neat little label by punching it and trimming down with scissors.

We finished off the inside of the card with Pink Pirouette under the ribbon also. The join of the ribbon is hidden nicely away under the label on the front. The 1/2" Circle punch has a neat little cross in the back of it, so we used to this to line up the corners of the white stamped card piece, this gave it a ticket like corner finish.

This is such an elegant card. I was inspired to make this card when I had spotted one similar by Sarah Wills. Sarah had made hers in Chocolate Chip and Baja Breeze. This got me thinking... you really could put almost any colour with the chocolate chip that you liked, and this card would look fantastic!

For a friend - Pocket Silhouettes!

Adding another idea on how to make the most of the
Pocket Silhouettes,
I'd like to share this eye catching card with you.

This was the card we made as our make and take at Barbara's workshop last week.

Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes
Ink: Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip
Card: Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White, Summer Sun,
Good Morning Sunshine DS Papers
Accessories: Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon, Silver Brad
Tools: Eyelet Border Punch, 1 3/4" Circle Punch, Trio Flower Punch, Horizontal Slot Punch, Paper Piercer (for brad), Dauber, and Adhesives including Dimensionals.

The cute little flower is two layers created by 2 of the punches from the Flower Trio. When you place the brad in the centre you can curl the petals up a bit and it gives a cute 3D little flower embellishment.
TOP TIP: I did learn a good lesson with getting the eyelet border effect through two layers that I'd like to share... as you may notice, I have punched through DS and card stock together. This is not easy... my lesson... don't try this at home! lol. No really, it was quite an effort to punch through both layers with the eyelet border. BUT I did discover however a much easier way I'd like to share. Punch the edge of the card stock with your border punch first. Then adhere the DS over the punched area. Looking from the underside you can see where you had punched the card stock. Line this up again with your punch and now you will only be punching through the DS that was adhered over the top of the already punched card. Funny how you discover little tricks!

Stamp-a-stacks a sell out!

Last weekend I held the second ever of my stamp-a-stack classes... and to my delight, they were fully booked in just 3 hours of announcing them being on! A big THANKS to everyone for such great support. We really do have fun with these classes...
here's what we made this time round.

Set 1 featured Circle Circus teamed up with your favourite greeting from Life Definitions or Sincere Salutations, this set covered both males and females being in Sahara Sand,
Chocolate Chip, & Brocade Blue.

Set 2 of course was based around my Stamp Set of the Month
Pocket Silhouettes.
Sale price during January 2010 purchased only
through me is $28!
saving over 15%
This set looked stunning combining Kraft with
4 of the In-colour range.
(Inspiration for this set came from Marelle Taylor).

Keep an eye out for my next Stamp-a-Stacks coming in March.
Love to have you join us!

(Note: There won't be a S-A-S during February as I will be travelling to Sydney for the last of the preparations for my Sister's Wedding... not to mention a fun hens night out! hee hee hee)

Envelope Card!

Here's a fresh new idea for you that is sure to get a WOW!

I picked this idea up at our Brisbane Regionals and I think it's pretty cute. What it is, is an envelope that has been sealed. 2" has been cut from one end creating the little lid that slides on and off. The larger part of the envelope has then been put through the Paper Crimper. This makes it that little bit smaller than the size of the lid piece, allowing it to tuck neatly inside. Amazing hey? Just add a little card to tuck inside with a special message, and there you go!

I did make a boo boo on my first attempt at this, and crimped the first envelope the wrong way (You need to crimp your envelope in horizontal). Not letting that little boo boo get in the way, what I did was undo the envelope and lay it out on some card stock. I measured around it and created the Certainly Celery base that you can see on one of the cards here...

Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes (Stamp Set of the Month),
Sincere Salutations, Curvy Verses,
Ink: Certainly Celery, Pixie Pink
Card: Certainly Celery, Pixie Pink, Whisper White,
Kaleidoscope DS Papers
Accessories: Whisper White Envelopes, Certainly Celery Ribbon,
Soft Subtles Brad
Tools: Paper Crimper, Wide Oval Punch, Designer Label Punch, Round Tab Punch, Daubers, Adhesives including Dimensionals.

Keagan's gift for his new teacher!

Over the school holidays there has been lots of activity with the kids in the craft room making all sorts of little projects. Yesterday Keagan asked me if he could make something for his new teacher this year to welcome her to the school. He came up with the idea of making one of my old favourites... a Sticky Note Holder.
(Click here for my older post with instructions)

Here's what he made...

Card: Pixie Pink, Tempting Turquoise, Summer Sun,
Kaleidoscope DS Paper
Accessories: So Saffron Ribbon, Crystal Brad, Mini Gel Pen,
Sticky Note Pad
Tools: Paper Trimmer with Scorer, 5 Petal Flower Punch, Piercer for Brad, Dazzling Diamonds, Adhesives including Sticky Strip & Dimensionals

Keagan chose the colours, DS etc himself. The flower on the front was a joint effort. I had seen this idea at our Brisbane Regionals and wanted to try it out. The top flower is curled with a wooden skewer so you can tuck the tips of the petals under the brad in the centre...
it is so effective and so easy to do!

I'm sure Keagan's teacher will love receiving this little gift...
almost as much as Keagan will enjoy giving it!

I'm excited... How about you?

Creations from our day in Liz's Studio!

You may recall recently a very special incentive offered to New Demonstrators who joined the Paper Angels Group during November. It was to have a day of craft in the studio with none other than the fabulous Inspiring Liz Collett...
our Paper Angels Team Leader!

Lucky for Kerrie who joined our group in November, as last Thursday Kerrie got to enjoy a full day making some beautiful projects in Liz's Studio.
Lucky for me too, as Kerrie became part of my team when joining...
so I got to go along with her for the fun!

We made cards, bags, tags, and scrapbook pages. Our projects featured the colourful & fresh
DS Papers in the Summer Mini Catalogue ' Kaleidoscope' and as an added bonus we got our hands on one of the not yet available
stamp sets from the 2010 Sale-a-bration. (25 Jan - 31 March)

Check out what we made...

Heart of Stampin Up!

Stampin' Up!s Statement of the Heart is:

To love what we do
and share what we love,
as we help others enjoy creativity
and worthwhile accomplishments . . .
in this we make a difference!

Each year only 1 SU demonstrator is awarded a special award "The Heart of Stampin' Up!" for their personal achievement of representing what is is within the Statement of the Heart. Demonstrators can nominate a demonstrator who they feel is worthy of this and it is presented at Convention by Shelli herself.

This is in my opinion the most important award of the night... and I am proud to say that the 2009 recipient for the Heart of Stampin' Up! award was Liz Collett.
Our ever so wonderful paper Angels Team Leader.

Below is from the SU website about how Liz truly deserved
the honor of receiving this wonderful award.

Heart of Stampin' Up! Award 2009
Liz Collett inspires many with her thoughtfulness, compassion, and genuine concern for others. She was nominated by six different people for the Heart of Stampin' Up! Award. Liz is much more than an upline to her group. In her nominations, she is described to as 'a wonderful friend', 'a true angel', 'an answer to prayers', 'the Statement of the Heart personified', and as one having 'a heart of gold'.
Liz has helped several of her fellow demonstrators in times of need. For instance, one demonstrator had surgery, and Liz was right there ready to run errands for her. Another demonstrator had a relative pass away from a rare cancer. Liz helped this demonstrator with a fundraiser for the Australian Cancer Research Foundation. Liz also volunteers in her children's school. All of these acts inspire and touch the lives of many,
but Liz's goodness and service do not stop there.
The service that received the most attention in Liz's nominations was the way Liz has helped her downline and friend, Leonie Conyers. Leonie describes the first time Liz touched her life:
'When a baby dies, a world is turned upside down. Before joining Stampin' Up!, my world had done exactly so. We had recently lost twin boys at birth and with that I had lost direction in life. But sitting at a fun workshop enjoying creativity that Liz had come to share with my friend and her guests, I felt happy. Liz beamed with love for what she was sharing with us, and her enthusiasm gave me the desire to do the same.
It was then that I became a member of Stampin' Up! [and the] Paper Angels.'
'Liz's Team is so appropriately named the Paper Angels,' shares downline member Ursula James. 'Through being members of this magnificent team, we are able to bless and touch the lives of so many! Just like real angels.'
Liz involves her team in many extraordinary service opportunities. The story of how Liz has comforted and helped Leonie, and others who have experienced similar losses, continues. Leonie recounts, 'With a new career in the making, a new house [within] reach, and the wonderful news of a new baby on the way, I was again on that miraculous journey of life!
'Until the unexpected, when I found myself back in a world turned upside down with the early delivery and loss of our third baby boy.'
'When Liz called suggesting the Paper Angels would like to hold a fundraising event for the hospital where we had lost our babies in their honour, my heart was touched as it still is.'
Leonie wished her babies' footprints had been preserved and presented in a nicer way.
So that's where the team decided to start.
'The Paper Angels could provide The Mater Mother's Bereavement Support Program with the materials they would need to ensure footprints of those babies who don't make it home be made onto special footprint cards along with name plaques, to allow families to honour and cherish their babies, and share the spirits of their lives,' shares Leonie.
Liz coordinated six Christmas card fundraising events, involving her whole team. These events raised money that allowed the Paper Angels to put together special kits with materials needed to make treasured footprints for grieving parents. She also arranged the first of the Paper Angels' ongoing donations of lovely backing cards for names and footprints to be presented on, and Liz will ensure that the hospital always has supplies on hand.
Then on World Infant Loss Remembrance Day, Leonie and Liz held an event with the hospital's maternity staff. They shared with the staff how important these footprints and nameplates are in helping grieving families heal. Through this event, they also discovered how the staff's role in making these special keepsakes would help them heal from the loss of infants in their care. Finally, they taught the staff how to stamp the names and footprints.
Through these acts of service and genuine love, Liz has touched the lives of so many--from her downline, to hospital staff, to grieving families, to those who attended the fundraising events. Downline member Kathryn Smith summed up how Liz's service has impacted her, 'Thanks to Liz, I was inspired by what one person can do to make a difference.' We hope you too will be inspired by Liz's generosity, kindness, and dedication. She truly embodies the Statement of the Heart, and we congratulate her on a well-deserved Heart of Stampin' Up! Award.

Sorry Liz that this posting has come so late...
but better late than never! lol

We love all you do Liz. So very proud to be a Paper Angel xo

Summer Mini Swaps!

In November Stampin' Up! held our Regional Training here in Brisbane at the Hilton.

I LOVE Stampin' Up! events so much, you get free stamps & accessories, do make & takes, see some fabulous ideas, and get to catch up with other demonstrators. But there's also SWAPS! What a highlight they are at any SU event. Demonstrators who would like to swap make a bulk amount of a card they wish to swap with others and in exchange get a card back. Some take 100's to swap, others a handful. I took along 35 swaps to this event... here's mine.

On the back you put your name etc and the recipe of your project. Some of the ladies made fabulous Christmas treat ideas... boxes etc, you may see some of them on display at the next workshop we catch up at.

There were 2 cards though that caught my eye amongst the swaps I received as they are featuring products from the current Summer Mini Catalogue, and just happen to be 2 of the sets in the catalogue that I really like.

This card was swapped from Sharon Turnbull.

Card: Pixie Pink, Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise, Kaleidoscope DS
